Models, pricing, local vs hosted

Chat history, project indexes, the Unreal bridge, and the Babylon modeling scene store are designed to live on disk locally. The desktop app talks to your open editor on your own machine. We do not host your .uproject.

With Dola-hosted models, sign-in and model inference use dolaai.pro. Dola authenticates you and forwards the request to a third-party model provider, which runs the model.

The account database is not a chat store. Usage totals come back so monthly included credits and extras can be enforced. The model provider still receives the prompt. Who receives what: privacy policy.

You can skip Dola-hosted models and use Dola for free with your own model provider key: Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Groq, xAI, Mistral, Cerebras, or a custom / local endpoint. In the desktop app, open Settings → Model, turn on Override provider, pick the provider, enter the model and your API key, and save.

Chat requests then go from the app to that provider, not through the dolaai.pro inference proxy. The provider bills you directly and no Dola credits are used for them. Web research in Dola's built-in browser still uses Dola-hosted models while you are signed in. The key is stored on this device. Step by step: use your own API key.

Paid plans add Dola-hosted models, no key needed. Indie, Pro, Pro+, and Max differ by included credit amount after payment — not by a separate feature list. Unused included credits reset on renewal. Extra purchased credits persist until used.
